Costings of alternative site for stadium to be reviewed

11:12 am on 24 February 2009

A deadlock has been broken over a $46 million indoor sports centre in Wellington.

Mayor Kerry Prendergast has struck a deal with Councillor Andy Foster who earlier announced he would appeal to the Environment Curt against the proposed location, in Kilbirnie.

He wants the centre built on the concourse to the Westpac stadium on the waterfront.

Ms Prendergast says she has met Cr Foster and they have verbally agreed to a fresh review of costings for this site. Terms are still being finalised.

Ms Prendergast says the agreement includes Cr Foster withdrawing his appeal to the Environment Court.
