Police in Whangarei have arrested a man suspected of stealing large sums of money from Chinese tourists in Hamilton.
A bus load of local government officials from China stopped for a tour of the Hamilton gardens on Monday.
When they returned, they found their bus had been ransacked and their money and valuables were gone.
The six Chinese officials departed on Wednesday. Police say they will be updated on the case through their consulate.
