Man drowns in Horowhenua, another seriously injured at Titahi Bay

A 51-year-old man has drowned at Foxton Beach in Horowhenua.

The man was swept out to sea while swimming.

The police say attempts to revive him using CPR were not successful.

In another incident north of Wellington, a man has been found seriously injured at the base of a 20 metre cliff at Titahi Bay.

The man, 53, had head injuries, broken bones and was suffering from hypothermia when he was found at about 9am on Saturday.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter landed on a nearby beach and then took the man to hospital.
