Closing arguments heard on fatal stabbing

The Crown says the case of a prostitute accused of stabbing her lover to death was the result of wanton domestic violence.

Dionne Neale, 39, is charged in the High Court in Auckland with murdering Reece Shadbolt at his Parnell apartment in February 2007.

He was stabbed eight times as he stepped out of the shower and was left for dead.

After almost a month, the Crown has begun its closing arguments in the case.

Prosecutor Kevin Glubb said Ms Neale was under the impression he was seeing other prostitutes and she was angry, frustrated and jealous.

He says she also blamed him for encouraging her to invest in a finance company which later collapsed, causing her to lose her home.

The defence concedes the accused stabbed the victim, but did not mean to kill him.
