12:44 pm on 31 May 2009

A drink driving blitz in west Auckland this weekend found 95 people with excess blood alcohol levels.

Nine checkpoints were operated in suburbs around Waitakere City from 8pm on Friday to 4am on Sunday.

Twenty four drivers elected to have blood tests taken which will determine if they will be charged.

Police say one driver was so drunk she had to be taken to hospital by ambulance. She is due to be charged with driving while incapable.

Twenty seven drivers had their licences suspended.

Another 10 were arrested for outstanding warrants, driving and drug offences.
