Man tries to rob bus with screwdriver

The police in Wellington are looking for a man who tried to rob a bus driver with a screwdriver.

The attempted robbery happened at 8.30pm on Friday in the suburb of Lyall Bay, on the corner of Queens Drive and Hungerford Road.

Police say a man boarded the bus, held up a screwdriver and demanded money from the driver but was refused.

The man then got off the bus and ran down Queens Drive towards the airport.

The police describe the man as being of medium height and build, between 18 and 23 years of age, and wearing a dark hooded top, dark trousers, large sunglasses and a dark coloured bandana.
