12:31 pm on 29 October 2009

Police have charged a driver after a car struck and injured a group of cyclists on Tamaki Drive in Auckland.

Four of the bike riders ended up in hospital after the collision last month.

One has been in a rehabilitation centre with serious head injuries.

The incident set off debate about speed limits on Tamaki Drive and ways to get cyclists and motorist to use the roadway more safely.

Police have now summonsed a woman, 20, to appear in the Auckland District Court in December.

She will face four charges of careless driving causing injury.
