Waikato police have arrested a man after he approached traffic in Matatoki, armed with a knife.
They say the Armed Offenders Squad was called to a domestic dispute at the man's home at 10am on Sunday.
The man fled the address but later returned, and police now have him in custody.
State Highway 26 was closed for the duration of the incident and police said there were likely to be delays of up to two hours for motorists while the backlog of traffic was cleared.
