Houses in a west Auckland suburb were evacuated after a contractor hit a gas pipeline on Monday afternoon.
Police say the pipeline is on the corner of Ranui Station Road and Swanson Road in Henderson.
Houses in the immediate vicinity were evacuated and roadblocks set up at several intersections. A library across the road was also evacuated.
Police expected that the leak would be fixed by Monday evening.
