Irrigation ban on Hawke's Bay rivers

8:58 pm on 16 April 2010

Lack of rain has forced the Hawke's Bay Regional Council to re-impose irrigation bans on two major rivers.

The council placed bans on high users of water from three rivers in March, but lifted them on two of the rivers in early April.

It says flow rates in the Waipawa and Tukituki rivers have since dropped.

The ban on taking water from parts of the Ngaruroro River remains in place and there are also bans on three streams.
