A party at Eden Park to mark the countdown to the 2011 Rugby World Cup is cancelled, as the stadium will not be ready in time.
Auckland City Council and Auckland Rugby Union were planning a celebration at the park, during an NPC rugby match between Auckland and Wellington on 11 September.
Eden Park Redevelopment Board says the development is well ahead of schedule.
But, chair John Waller says not all the stands will be open by 11 September. While the game will go ahead the celebration will not.
He says completion is due by the end of October and he hopes Eden Park may be open even sooner.
