12:46 pm on 9 July 2010

A fourth person has been arrested in Gisborne in relation to a gang fight on Saturday, which followed an earlier incident in Wairoa in which a man was shot in the face.

Tensions between local Black Power and Mongrel Mob members erupted into violence last Thursday night, when a Black Power member was shot in the face on a residential street in the town of Wairoa.

In the early hours of Saturday, police were called to a clash between nine rival gang members in the port area of Gisborne, which put four people in hospital.

Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Scott says a 15-year-old has been arrested and will appear in court on Friday.

Three others, aged 17, 26 and 36, have already appeared in court charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
