Police in Christchurch are investigating how a girl died at the weekend, after what they call an incident at the family home.
The girl, aged 10 years, was taken to Christchurch hospital on Friday, but died in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Although he can't publicly say why she was hospitalised, acting Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Murton says there is no indication of foul play.
He says there has also been a post mortem and the girl's body is now with her family.
