Fireworks have marked the start of the annual festival paying respects to Nelson's fishing fleet.
The Blessing of the Fleet, now it its 10th year, was being held on Saturday with up to to 50 vessels expected in Port Nelson for the service.
After the formalities, there was to be music, scallop and fish picnic lunches and a catch-of-the-day auction.
Celebrations were to continue on Sunday with a seafood festival.
