The economic impact from the 2008 National Agricultural Fieldays at Mystery Creek is estimated at $870 million.

The figure from the Waikato University Management School includes actual sales and associated benefits at the three day event, which drew a record attendance of 131,000 people.

The estimates are based on a survey of 1000 exhibitors.

Associate Professor Stuart Locke says the economic benefits this year are up by at least 10% on a similar study in 2006.

He says the National Agricultural Fieldays is a proven significant economic event.
