Former All Black Wayne Shelford is the new face of a Jenny Craig weight loss campaign aimed at men.
Shelford told Waatea News he stopped his regular exercise programme when he had a bout of cancer three years ago, and it's made him aware of the importance of what he eats.
"It's about the quantitiy of what we're eating," he said. "We're eating huge meals which the body doesn't need, and turns to fat. And the body gets heavier and heavier."
Shelford said that if he gets his extra 20kg off within six months, he may start playing rugby again.
