Hundreds of people have attended a funeral service for a New Zealand-born member of the Rebel motorcycle club, one of two shot dead in Canberra last week.

Mourners told how he was a "superstar" of drinking.

A procession of bikes followed the coffin of Richard Roberts, also known as Rebel Rick.

Mr Roberts, a former West Australian Rebel president and club member Gregory Carrigan were shot dead in the Canberra suburb of Chisholm last Tuesday.

Mr Roberts' coffin was adorned with red, blue and white flowers - the club's colours.

Members performed a haka as his coffin was brought into the service.

A friend speaking at the service said Mr Roberts was feared by those who did not know him, but loved by those who did.
