The Lake Taupo Challenge, the biggest cycling event in the country, begins on Saturday morning.
Almost 10,000 cyclists will take part in 12 different events, based around Lake Taupo from 6am - 5pm.
Motorists are urged to slow down during the events, following a recent spate of cycling deaths on the roads.
