Wellington residents to fight roading plans

2:06 pm on 8 December 2010

Residents affected by eight major roading projects across the Wellington region are forming a coalition to fight the Government's billion-dollar overhaul of State Highway 1.

The changes will dramatically alter the roading network between Levin and Wellington airport.

About 80 angry residents living along the route met on Tuesday night, saying they're frustrated they're not being listened to.

The projects causing most anxiety were the Kapiti Coast expressway, and a planned flyover at Wellington's Basin Reserve.
