The Supreme Court is to hear an appeal by the man found guilty of murdering Palmerston North drug dealer Nicholas Pike, who disappeared without trace in 2002.
Earlier this year, Stephen Hudson was sentenced to life imprisonment and ordered to serve at least 16 years in jail for Mr Pike's murder.
The Supreme Court will look at evidence presented during the trial relating to previous acts of violence involving Hudson.
It will also consider whether or not evidence relating to alleged confessions by him that he had killed Mr Pike should have been allowed to go before the jury.
