The Ministry of Education has named the commissioner who will deal with problems at Te Aute College in Hawke's Bay.
Elizabeth Ellis has worked for the Education Review Office for the past 20 years. She is to meet college principal Piripi Blake on Friday.
Financial problems and a falling student roll have led to the resignation of the school's board of trustees.
Mrs Ellis says she has been briefed by the ministry about the issues, but she wants to hear about them first hand from staff and parents.
She says she will then be in more of a position to talk about the future and how problems can be dealt with.
