Power is out to several residential streets in Whangarei after a car hit a power pole.
Police say the pole was snapped from its base on William Jones Drive in Otangarei at about 2am on Wednesday.
They say power went off immediately in some surrounding streets and power company contractors are working to restore it.
Police expect power to be restored by about 7am.
