A woman has been seriously injured after being hit while using a new bus thoroughfare in central Wellington.
The woman was struck by a bus late on Thursday afternoon near the ANZ bank in Manners Street.
Several people have been hit by buses since November last year when the nearby Manners Mall was turned into a two-way bus lane.
The Wellington City Council removed the long-established pedestrian mall and redirected traffic on several adjacent streets in a bid to make public transport more efficient.
