Bain to give first formal speech at justice conference

7:36 pm on 16 May 2011

David Bain is to address an international justice conference in what will be his first formal public speaking engagement.

It is almost two years since Mr Bain was found not guilty in a retrial of murdering five members of his family at their Dunedin home in June 1994.

Mr Bain was jailed for the killings at a trial in 1995, but had those convictions quashed by the Privy Council in 2007.

He has now been named as a VIP keynote speaker at the inaugural International Justice Conference to be held in Perth, Australia, in March next year.

Others who have been wrongfully imprisoned, including Australia's Lindy Chamberlain-Creighton and the American Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, are also scheduled to speak at the conference.
