A pedestrian injured on the roads during Queen's Birthday weekend has died.
The death alters the road toll from zero to one, ending hopes that New Zealand has at last achieved a death-free holiday weekend on the roads.
However, police say the toll equals several other holiday weekends and still remains one of the lowest on record.
