AUT manager resigns after university money goes missing

8:38 pm on 27 July 2011

A senior staff member at the Auckland University of Technology has resigned following investigations into discrepancies in its accounts.

The taxpayer-funded university says it discovered the possible theft during an audit, but a spokesperson would not confirm how much money had gone missing.

However, she said a large sum was involved and as a consequence of investigations, a person who holds a management role has left the position.

A police complaint over fraudulent activities and possible theft has been laid.

The police say the complaint was received on Monday. They have no further comment.
