Urgent help needed from public

Police need urgent help from the public to locate those responsible for a series of homophobic incidents in Mangawhai, north of Auckland.

Anti-gay messages were written on the fence of a property owned by two women twice this month and once in January.

Anti gay and anti lesbian messages were scrawled on the fence of the property twice this month and once in January.

Also in January, a packing shed on the property was destroyed by a suspicious fire.

Police say the personal nature of the attacks is causing considerable concern and help from the public is urgently sought.

Detective Sergeant Roger Small says minimal evidence has been left at the scene.

He says someone in the community will know who is responsible for the attacks.
