The group of children in charge of returning rugby balls kicked out of play during Rugby World Cup matches at Eden Park has met for the first time.

The 17 boys and one girl were fitted out in their gear in Auckland on Sunday, in preparation for the start of the tournament on 9 September.

The group have been picked from the Eden Rugby Club to cover the matches held at Eden Park Stadium.

One of the ballboys, 14-year-old Harrison Manks, said they all take the role very seriously - and will have the best view of the game.

Lachlan Simpson, 10, said it was awesome being picked.
