Fiji Business Council wants trade relations preserved

The Fiji New Zealand Business Council says it would like to see discussions between the New Zealand Government and Fiji's interim regime in order to preserve the trade relationship.

The Fiji interim regime expelled New Zealand's and Australia's top diplomats earlier this month, after accusing them of misinforming Canberra and Wellington and waging a negative campaign against the government and people of Fiji.

New Zealand and Australia retaliated by ordering Fiji's top diplomats to leave.

Fiji's interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, says all is well between Fiji and its Trans-Tasman neighbours at a business level.

However, the business council says the current situation is moving closer towards seriously threatening and reducing annual trade.
