Information sought on missing teenager

The mother of a Christchurch teenager missing for three months has issued a plea for information about his whereabouts.

Hayden Miles, 16, has not contacted his family since 22 August, the day of his disappearance.

His mother Jacquie and an aunt held a media briefing on Tuesday in an effort to uncover new information.

Ms Miles says her son has depression and would struggle to live independently.

Detective Inspector Tony Hill says there have been several reported sightings of Hayden but none have led to finding him.

He says Hayden called his mother on a passer-by's phone the day he disappeared to say he had been assaulted and his phone had been taken off him.

But nothing suggests the assault is connected with the disappearance.
