Police in Christchurch say they have had a positive response to a public appeal for information regarding the whereabouts of a teenager who has been missing for three months.

Hayden Miles, 16, has not been in contact with his family since 22 August, the day he disappeared.

Detective Senior Sergeant Tony Hill says the police have received several calls with information since a news briefing on Tuesday.

Prior to the appeal they had been receiving about one call per week.

Mr Hill says Mr Miles' family are continuing to distribute leaflets throughout Christchurch to raise public awareness of his disappearance.
