A Queenstown woman charged with kidnapping a 28-year-old man has been remanded in custody until 28 February.

Rachel Faul is also charged with aggravated assault and reckless driving after the Cromwell man was lured to a location on the outskirts of Queenstown and ambushed early on Saturday morning.

Police opposed bail in Queenstown District Court and Judge Neave suppressed all details about why bail was opposed.

The judge has given leave to make a fresh bail application as the inquiry progresses.

Police have located a white four-door Mitsubishi saloon they believe was used in the attack.

They have also spoken to another person who has provided further information about the incident.

Police say they are still looking for four or five skinheads who held a machete and meat clever to the man's throat, before bundling him into a car and later dumping him on the side of the road.
