Wellington police say they have arrested 17 people and seized drugs, cash and weapons as part of an effort to prevent harm from drugs.
The arrests follow searches this week of properties in Otaki, Paraparaumu, Porirua, Tawa, Johnsonville, Newlands, Strathmore and central Wellington.
Police say they found tens of thousands of dollars in cash as well as firearms, methamphetamine, cannabis and other drugs .
They say the combination of weapons and drugs posed significant risk to police and the community.
Those arrested face various charges and will appear in the Wellington and Porirua district courts over the coming week.
