Mud cleansing first at hospital for festival fans

9:58 am on 1 January 2012

Thames hospital staff have been hosing down muddy Coromandel festival goers.

Waikato District Health Board says people arriving from the Coromandel Gold New Year's festival were covered in mud.

Spokesperson MaryAnne Gill says hospital staff had to find an extra hose to sluice the festival patrons before treating them for what have so far been minor ailments.

New Years Day and 2 January are usually the busiest days of the year for Thames Hospital.
