Christian festival drops family pass price to $1

8:12 pm on 19 January 2012

Families wanting to attend the Parachute music festival can now do so for as little as just $1.

Following slow ticket sales to the Christian festival, organisers have reduced the admission fee for families who can't afford it.

The concession applies to one or two parents and any number of their children.

The normal cost is $465, but concert-goers to the drug and alcohol-free event can now chose from a range of admission prices, including $1.

Parachute Music chief executive Mark de Jong says people may take advantage of the situation, but hopes the festival will not be taken for a ride.

Organisers want to make it easier for people in a needy situation, so they have chosen to trust people, he says.

The festival will be held at Hamilton's Mystery Creek Events Centre from 27 to 30 January.
