A man has been arrested after a family fight in Lower Hutt in which a man was attacked with an axe.
Police say a woman tried to intervene and was struck on the head with the axe about half past 11.30am on Saturday.
She was treated in hospital for a laceration to her head.
A man, 30, will appear in court on Monday charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and assault with a weapon.
