The Southland harbour master is warning boat owners to immediately check their moorings are secure in the light of a severe gale warning for the area.
Kevin O'Sullivan says winds are forecast to reach 140 kms an hour on Tuesday morning.
He says boat owners in Fiordland, as well as on Lakes Te Anau and Manapour need to ensure their boats are well secured.
