A study suggests New Zealand has some of the world's keenest bloggers.

Researchers at AUT University surveyed 1430 people about their internet use as part of the World Internet Project, which tracks how people in 15 countries use the internet.

One in 13 New Zealanders has a weblog - the highest rates of bloggers in the world.

The study suggests 28% of New Zealanders use the internet to make contact with family and friends by using social networking sites such as Myspace and Facebook.

However, many are spending less time communicating face to face with family members.

Based on the study, about three-quarters of New Zealanders use the internet, but 16% have never gone online.
