A 21-year-old man has appeared in the Invercargill District Court on charges related to a string of car break-ins in the city overnight.
Invercargill police say the man and a 20-year-old accomplice were caught in the act of breaking into a car.
The younger man will appear in court on Monday.
Sergeant Dave McKenzie says a police dog handler on patrol disturbed two men breaking into a vehicle in the Georgetown area of the city at 3am on Saturday.
The pair were chased into a nearby house and arrested.
The police say there were significantly more cars broken into than usual.
