The Department of Labour is investigating after a man fell down a lift shaft at Auckland Central Library.
The man was replacing an elevator at the library when the accident occurred on Saturday.
A Fire Service spokesperson says crews were called to the scene, but by the time they arrived the man had walked out by himself.
St John ambulance says the man was taken to Auckland Hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
