'Choking husband' doll causes outrage

A male doll that can be choked as a punishment has outraged a men's group which says it trivialises domestic violence.

The doll is on sale on Trade Me by someone who says they originally bought the toy from The Warehouse.

It is listed as the 'choking husband anger management fun adult toy' and is believed to be widely available overseas.

A spokesperson for mens advocacy group Positive Men says the doll should be removed from sale.

Darryl Ward says the toy makes fun of domestic violence and trivalises a serious problem in society.

Trade Me has confirmed it has received a couple of complaints about the doll but says it has no plans to take remove the auction.
