A soldier has shot himself in the leg during training at the army's Linton Military Camp in Manawatu.
The Defence Force says the man is a member of a group doing pre-deployment training and appears to have discharged his weapon.
He has been taken to Palmerston North Hospital.
The Defence Force says an investigation will be conducted into the shooting.
