A defence force aircraft had to make an emergency landing at the Whenuapai Airbase in Auckland this afternoon after its crew noticed fumes.
The P3 Orion was on a training mission and was carrying 12 crew.
It returned immediately to Whenuapai as a precaution.
A defence force spokesperson says it was a standard response to this type of emergency.
