TV interior designer's killer to be freed from jail

9:50 pm on 1 March 2012

The killer of television interior designer David McNee is to be freed from prison.

Phillip Edwards was given a nine year sentence for the 2003 manslaughter.

He had gone to Mr McNee's house to perform a sex show for $120 but ended up fatally hitting the designer after he made sexual advances.

Edwards, 31, has a five-page list of convictions and has been sent to prison on several occasions.

Edwards has just five months left on his jail term, and is deemed to pose a high risk of violent reoffending.

But the Parole Board has ruled he can leave jail in April so his risk can be appropriately managed in the community.
