A week out from the third leg of the IRB World series in Wellington the Fiji Rugby Union has sacked Waisale Serevi as Fiji 7s coach.

A Union press says they have unanimously resolved to terminate the services of Serevi effective immediately.

Union executive chairman Keni Dakuidreketi says Serevi had been repeatedly warned previously of his public outbursts against the FRU and his wilful disregard of clear directives of the management and Board.

Dakuidreketi says Serevi has been repeatedly warned in the past for insubordination of board and management directives but has failed to act in accordance with these directions.

He adds it was tough decision but no one is indispensable and no one is bigger than the game.

Iliesa Tanivula who coached the Fiji Barbarians 7s team to the Uruguay 7s recently has been appointed to replace Serevi.
