A skytruck airplane belonging to Police in the Indonesian Province, Papua, has lost contact with the Sentani Airport tower as it was flying to Mulia Airport in the highland regency of Puncak Jaya.

Jayapura Police chief, Matheus Fakhiri, says the aircraft took off yesterday at 11:38 a.m. local time and should have landed at Mulia Airport at 1:30 p.m.

The Jakarta Post says the plane was carrying four crew members and basic commodities for the mobile brigade police personnel on duty in Puncak Jaya.

The head of the Jayapura Search and Rescue Agency, Suyatno, says a search will begin this morning.
