WWI law repealed

4:55 am on 5 April 2012

A Government bill that repeals laws that were set up to deal with military mobilisation during World War I has passed its third and final reading.

The Military Manoeuvres Act Repeal Bill passed with the support of all parties, except New Zealand First.

The 1915 Act allowed the governor-general to declare any land available for military manoeuvres, but it has not been used for 30 years.
