PM and business leaders head to Indonesia, Singapore

6:10 am on 15 April 2012

Prime Minister John Key says strengthening trade ties with Indonesia and Singapore will be the main focus of his trip there.

Mr Key and Trade Minister Tim Groser are leading a business delegation to the two countries for a three-day visit.

The 26-strong delegation is focused on four sectors - food and beverage, education, aviation and geothermal energy.

Mr Key says Indonesia is New Zealand's nearest Asian neighbour and will be an increasingly important partner in years to come.

During the visit, which begins on Monday, he will meet Indonesia's president and hold talks with a number of cabinet ministers.

In Singapore, Mr Key will meet the Prime Minister and the President.
