National Party still showing strong support

The National Party and its leader continue to hold commanding leads over Labour in the latest opinion poll.

The TV3 poll shows support for National is up more than 2% to 49.8%, with the Labour Party still trailing at 29.4%.

National Party leader, John Key, is still the preferred Prime Minister at 44%, with Labour's new leader, David Shearer, registering 10.4%.

Support for the Green Party is up nearly 1% to 14.1% while New Zealand First is down 2%, to 2.3%.

The Maori Party is up slightly to 1.6%, while ACT and the Mana party have both registered under 1% support.

The poll surveyed 1000 people and had a margin of error of 3.1%.
