The Government is going ahead with a plan to tax company carparks that are provided as a trade-off against salary.
Revenue Minister Peter Dunne says Cabinet has agreed to focus on the Auckland and Wellington central business districts, where the benefits of a carpark are the greatest.
says people on equivalent salary packages should be taxed equally, irrespective of how they are paid.
Mr Dunne says salary trade-offs involving vehicles, carparks and vouchers, will also be used to calculate social assistance such as Working for Families tax credits.
